The scoring rubric
Every operator is scored on five weighted factors that together produce the editorial score you see on the homepage. We chose these factors because they map to the five questions UK players consistently ask us in correspondence: Will I get my money? Is the bonus worth it? Will the site help me stop if I need to? Can I pay how I want? Can I get a real person on chat?
1. Withdrawal speed — 35%
The biggest weight, because in our reader research it is the single biggest source of disappointment with online casinos. We make a verified withdrawal of £40 by debit card and £40 by PayPal (where available), and time the result. Operators that pay out in under twelve hours consistently take the top scores.
2. Welcome-offer clarity — 20%
We do not score "biggest bonus". We score the clearest, fairest bonus. A £25 match with 25× wagering and a transparent expiry will outscore a £200 match with 65× wagering and a maximum cash-out cap. We also penalise operators that make the wagering multiplier hard to find.
3. Safer-gambling tooling — 20%
Deposit limits, loss limits, session timers, reality checks and GAMSTOP integration are the minimum. We award higher scores when these tools are surfaced during onboarding rather than hidden in a settings menu, and when changes to limits take effect immediately rather than after a 24-hour cooling period.
4. Payments — 15%
We check that the operator supports debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and at least one open-banking option. We log minimum and maximum deposits, processing windows, and any fees. UK casinos cannot accept credit cards by law and we do not score them on that basis.
5. Support quality — 10%
We send a real KYC question to live chat at 21:00 UK time on a weekday, and again at 11:00 UK time on a Sunday. We score on time-to-first-response and on whether the answer actually solves the problem.
What we do not do
- We do not let commercial partners see scores before publication.
- We do not change the order of the list in exchange for higher commission.
- We do not list operators that are unlicensed in Great Britain, regardless of payment offered.
- We do not run "exclusive bonus" placements that ignore wagering requirements.
- We do not use cloaked or bridge URLs. Every casino link goes directly to the operator's domain.
When the list changes
Every operator is retested once a quarter, and any time we receive a substantiated reader complaint about a specific issue (slow payouts, a tightened bonus rule, a new payment block). Changes to the ranking are logged in the editorial notes at the top of the homepage.
